The best way to spend time in the culturally rich capital is to explore the beautiful temples and the palace of the Kings. Although there are literally more than 1000 temples in the valley, there are some that stand out from the rest due to its sheer religious and historical importance. This half day tour is tailored so you can enjoy these locations to the full extent. Our expert guides here at Happyland Treks will brief you about the information required to understand the value of these monuments.
temples, we will visit the three Durbar Squares in the three cities in the Valley- Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur, each housing the Late King of their time. These palace are the remnants of the once lost Kings who ruled over the land and holds utmost historical importance hardly surpassed by any other.
Half day Sightseeing
Bhaktapur durbar square.
Patan durbar square.
I would say that what I preferred were Patan’s museum and Bhaktapur’s temples, enjoying a dring on a rooftop in Bhaktapur, and shopping in Patan, less expensive than Thamel. It was a fun day with a fun guide, which is as important as his knowledge and professionalism in my view. Navigating without him would have been much more difficult and we would have missed some important places to see.
Of course you can visit Patan and Bhaktapur on your own but the best way to understand the culturally rich sites is to go with a guide who’s been immersed in Hindu culture for his whole life. During this half day we spent just enough time in both places to see everything there is to see, walk among the temples and observe the local rites. Walking there with a local makes you feel much closer to the people, which is what I look for in a travel.
