One of the most sought tourist destination for the trekkers and nature lovers alike, Poonhill is a must visit to view the beautiful sunrise in the backdrop of the beautiful mountains. The panoramic view of Mt.Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Macchapuchhre (6,993m) as well as the Annapurna ranges.
Ghorepani Poonhill trek is one of the short treks that does not necessarily compromise with the experience due to its length. This trek is also rated as easy that does not require much physical fitness. Ideal for novice trekker, the low difficulty will help to take the full advantage of this tour. The nature that this tour brings with it makes it no less great for the professionals as the backdrops are unsurpassed by any other treks.
Our journey starts from Pokhara from where we will take a short drive to Nayapul. From there, we will take a short trek to Tikhedhuga and to Ghorepani(2,855m) -our stop for the night. Early morning, we trek to Poonhill to look at the miraculous sunrise and the much-deserved photograph. Our representatives here at Happy Land Treks will receive you from airport and drop you to your hotel. Similarly, all the accommodation, food and luggage will be taken care.
The sunrise and the mountains are not the only major attraction of this tour. The friendly locals, lush forests, and the beautiful rivers and rocky lands are also included in this holistic tour.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel and over night in Kathmandu preparation for trekking.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus and over night in Pokhara (820m)
Day 03: Pokhara to Nayapul by private transport 1:30.hrs and trek to Ulleri (2010m)
Day 04: Trek Ulleri to Ghorepani (2874m)
Day 05: Trek Ghorepani to Poon-Hill (3210m) to Tadapani (2630m) Early in the morning hike uphill to the Poon hill to see the sunrise view and Annapurna Himalayan range include the world's 7th height mountain Dhaulagiri (8167.m) after enjoying the view downhill to the Ghorepani and breakfast after breakfast trek to Tadapani.
Day 06: Trek Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m)
Day 07: Trek Ghandruk to Nayapul (1070m) from Nayapul by private transport to Pokhara (820m)
Day 08: Pokhara to Kathmandu (1336m) by tourist bus.
Day 09: Day Departure to international airport or if you have few days extra in Kathmandu you can chill. Shopping, Sightseeing, etc
We trek per day between 4 to 8 hours it’s depending on the walk, we can always tailor the date to you and your needs. While trekking with Happyland Treks we recommends you to drink 3 to 5 liters water per day. Water is known to help when combating mountain altitude sickness.
During the trek almost every village you will have access to boiled purified drinking water, bottle of water and hot water for the drink which is cost started from 100 – 500 rupee per liters depends where you are. Cold shower is free but we are not recommends cold shower during the trek because it too cold up there, so it’s better to have hot shower which is possible by Gas Geysers or Hot Bucked and prices started from 100 – 200 rupee per head.
For the camera/mobile battery we always recommends you bring some extra batteries if possible, you can have Mobile/Camera Battery charge almost every tea house the places where you staying in the night.
When trekking you will go through terrain that can be flat, downhill uphill and at points with lots of stairs.
We are always there to help and support you and your journey. Learning about local culture and their people. Visiting Gurung museum, Cultural Gurung dress up. Reaching to poonHill max altitude 3210m. During the trip we will sleep at a maximum altitude of 2874m. Ghorepani.
We are in the tea house trekking
Tea house trek basically means small hotel with cozy room established along the trekking route that provide room and food. Most of this established family owned and home cooked meals are serve as well as different type of food European and western food it's bit of different but it’s good.
Mountain Sickness and prevention
Mountain Altitude Sickness can affect anyone above 3000 meters. Altitude Sickness affects people regardless of sex. Age and fitness. If you are showing signs of mountain altitude sickness your safety is our first priority and we will facilitate you getting down as fast as possible. We suggest prior to trekking to ensure you are in good health and have consulted with your GP. It is recommended prior to departing walking training is done so you have the most enjoyable time whilst trekking. Please don’t hesitate ask more.
ACUTE MOUNTAIN SICKNESS!
Many people suffer from mild symptoms of AMS (ACCUTE MOUNTAIN SICKNESS)
A light headache, loss of appetite and disturbed sleep may occur when suffering from AMS. If you experience any of these symptoms do not continue ascend. Instead, stay where you are or go down to acclimatize.
Hace – High Altitude Cerebral Edema (swelling of the brain)
Hape – High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (fluids in the lungs)
Persistent severe headache, difficulty breathing, confused thinking, loss of appetite, rapid breathing or breathlessness at rest, vomiting,coughing up pink, brown or white sputum, sound of liquid in the lungs, blueness of face and lips, severe lethargy (not wanting to do anything), persistent bubbling cough, or persistent increased heart rate (110 per minute)
Prevention:- Drink plenty of water (not alcoholic beverage) and eat fruit - especially when crossing high pass.
