Itinerary of Everest Base Camp with Island Peak

Day 1Kathmandu Arrival Day

On the first day of your journey, you will arrive in Kathmandu, where our representative will pick you up and escort you to your hotel for the day. Greeted by the stunning backdrop of the great Himalayas, you are soon to conquer. The day, you will be meeting your guides and having a final moment of preparation.

Day 2Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding

Leaving behind the chaotic city of Kathmandu you go on a scenic flight to Lukla, which is a small town located in the Khumbu region. The flight may be a short one with just 35-40 mins of total flight time. Therefore, Each and every second are memorial as the panoramic view of the great Himalayan region, with small villages scattered all along the way are truly marvelous piece of view.
Landing in Lukla, the trek starts as you go on to reach Phakding. The trail is comparatively easy, as you pass on through lush forests, following the Dudh Koshi River. Moreover, Passing through many small villages and suspension bridges, you slowly get to see some great peaks at a distance. Thus, reaching Phakding, the day ends with a rest.

Day 3Phakding to Namche Bazaar

With an energetic breakfast in Phakding, you will continue with your trek toward Namche Bazaar. Therefore, The trail continues through the same lush forests full of pine forests and rhododendron. Moreover, Entering the Sagarmatha National Park, the flora and fauna are sure to impress you. Climbing higher and higher, you slowly feel the effects of increasing altitude. After some challenging ascents, you will finally be reaching the tourist hub Namche Bazaar. With tons of options here, you enjoy the Bazaar in the evening and rest for the day.

Day 4Acclimatization Day

Trekking in higher altitudes always comes with great risk, that being altitude sickness. Acclimation becomes an essential, that counters the risk of altitude sickness. Thus, for a safe and successful trek, our team at Happyland Treks has planned this itinerary with great detail about Altitude sickness.
Acclimatization day doesn’t mean resting all day, we will surely squeeze the most out of this trek by planning short hikes here and there. The most popular option is the Everest View Hotel, known for its stunning panoramic view of Everest. Thus, descending back you will be resting in Namche Bazaar.

Day 5Namche to Tengboche

Leaving this beautiful hub behind, you get back on your trail toward Tengboche. Taking you along the ridgeline, the views of peaks such as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam get clearer and clearer. Making your way through lush rhododendron forests and suspension bridges. The trail after Phunki Tenga gets a bit challenging as the trail climbs steeply uphill. Eventually, with hours of trek, you will finally be reaching Tengboche, where the famous Tengboche Monastery lies. Moreover, With the perfect time chosen, you may get to experience the monks chanting and performing ceremonies. You will be spending the night in a Teahouse surrounded by towering peaks.

Day 6Tengboche to Dingboche

Moving on to Tengboche, the trail gets harder and harder every day. Dinboche lies at an altitude of 4,410 meters (14,470 feet). The trail to this beautiful village starts with a descent through the same lush forests before crossing the Imja Khola with a suspension bridge.
Moreover, The ascend beings as you start to notice the effects of increasing altitudes on vegetation, flora, and fauna, resting frequently and staying hydrated becomes a crucial part if you want to conquer this trek.

Day 7Acclimatization in Dingboche

The altitude gain in the upcoming few days will be massive. Thus, to prepare for that great altitude spike, we must take another day of acclimatization. With some great hikes options around the region. You can hike to Chukkung Ri, as it provides some great panoramic views of the surrounding peaks such as the Island Peak and the Ama Dablam. Thus, this hike is an excellent way to prepare ourselves for the upcoming altitude spike. After the hike, you can interact with the locals and explore the village.

Day 8Dingboche to Lobuche

With a rest day in Dingboche, we get back on our trail full of energy. The trail slowly ascends along the moraine of the great Khumbu Glacier. All along the peak, you get mesmerizing views of the surrounding peaks. The lands start to get more and more barren, as the effect of high altitude can clearly be seen.
Moving along the trail, you reach a stone memorial dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. Paying your respect there, you move on with the trail, that gets more steep, as your attention and carefulness needs to be higher. Reaching Lobuche, you get greeted by the great views of Nuptse, Pumori, and other majestic peaks

Day 9Lobuche to Gorakshep, Everest Base Camp, and Gorak Shep

A highly anticipated day, as you move on to the Everest Base Camp, which is the base camp to the world’s highest peak. Moving on first to Gorakshep, the trail is challenging, with rocky trails and high altitudes adding on to the difficulty. Upon reaching Gorakshep where you will be having your lunch.
Thus, after lunch, you move on to conquer this base camp. The trail passes through the Glacier, and landslide-prone areas, as you move on carefully and finally reach the Everest Base Camp. The surge of emotions hits you, as this great base camp thrills you to your fullest. With plenty f opportunity, for great pictures and moments, you now come back to Gorakshep via the same trail.

Day 10Gorakshep to Kala Patthar and Dingboche

Beginning this day comparatively early, even though having set foot on the Everest Base Camp, we still haven’t got that great view of Everest. Thus, for this, we will be trekking all the way to Kalapatthar. Known to provide the best panoramic view of Mount Everest, the golden light hitting the peak of Everest is truly a heartwarming moment. A challenging ascend, but worth every second of struggle
Thus, now we descend back to Gorakshep and then to Dingboche, allowing your body to adjust to the decreasing altitude. Reaching Dingboche, you will settle into a teahouse and have a good rest after a long time.

Day 11Dingboche to Chhukung

Leaving the trail of Everest Base Camp, you move on to the trail towards Chukkung. Passing through alpine landscapes and crossing glacial streams. Moreover, Arriving at Chukkung, you will notice the majestic Island Peak dominating the whole skyline. Chukkung is also regarded as a base for climbers who tend to climb the Island Peak. Thus, it is certain for you to meet people who have the same motive as yours. The peaceful ambiance of the villages provides a great opportunity to relax after a taxing trek.

Day 12Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp

Embarking on a journey to Island Peak Base Camp, this day serves as a gateway to this great peak. The trail gradually ascends, with the views getting more and more satisfying. Therefore, With making your way to the Island Peak Base Camp, the opportunity to dive deep into the Himalayan Wilderness gets countless. The Base camp situates in a picturesque location, surrounded by great towering peaks.
Therefore, Reaching the Base Camp, you’ll settle in preparing for the next day’s climb. Moreover, With a final instruction from your guides to make your summit ascent as smooth as possible.

Day 13Pre-climb Training on Base Camp

Rather than just depending on knowledge and information. Happyland Treks provides you with first-hand training on the Base Camp preparing for the ascent. Our guide will e providing instructions on mountaineering techniques, and the use of climbing gears such as crampons, harnesses, ice axes, and ropes.
With learning skills such as self-arrest, and ascending fixed lines. This training is crucial for our safety and success during the summit. Letting your gain confidence and learn skills. With the rest of the day for rest and mental preparation, this day ends.

Day 14Ascent of Island Peak Summit and Return to Chhukung

The day has finally come when you conquer this great peak. Waking up early in the morning with great confidence and excitement. Equipping with all the gears you begin your journey under the starlit sky.
With the sun slowly starting to rise, you continue your limb, passing steep ascents and deep gorges. The final push to the summit requires careful footwork and great attention to detail.
Finally reaching the top of the island peak, which stands at an elevation of 6,189 meters (20,305 feet). The breathtaking 360 views of the whole Himalayan range is un desirable through these mere texts. The rewards are surely worth every bit of effort you put into this journey.
After spending some time, you will now start you descent, as you must reach all the way to Chukkung. Here, you will celebrate your successful climb and rest for the day.

Day 15Chhukung to Pangboche

Leaving behind this glorious village of Chhukung, you will now resume your trek and head straight toward Pangboche. The trail is the same through the alpine meadows and lush rhododendron forests. Therefore, In Pangboche, you will visit the famous Pangboche Gompa, where the architecture and the Buddhist artworks continue to impress you. Therefore, After a full day of trekking, you will settle in a tea house and rest for the day.

Day 16Pangboche to Namche

Continuing your journey, you will now be reaching straight back to Namche Bazaar from Pangboche. The trail retraces your steps, as you get to experience the same trail one more time. Moreover, Descending such a massive altitude, you will notice the change in landscapes and vegetation, with an increase in civilization and villages. Therefore, Namche Bazaar sits there to welcome you with the hustle and bustle of people in the Bazaar. Here, you can shop for souvenirs and explore the night market.

Day 17Namche to Lukla

Leaving behind this beautiful Namche Bazaar, you make your way back to Lukla. One which serves as your beginning to this trek now is the end of this great trek. Moreover, Exiting the great Sagarmatha National Park, we thank it for helping us create such great memories.
The trail comes down the flowing Dudh Koshi River, through forests and the same suspension bridges. Upon reaching Lukla, you get the opportunity to witness the great Himalayas one last time and reflect on the remarkable journey so far.

Day 18Lukla to Kathmandu

Your final moments in Lukla, as you say goodbye to the great Himalayan region. Therefore, Getting back on the same mesmerizing flights, we kinda feel sad leaving behind such a great piece of nature. The flight again offers great views of the whole region.
Arriving in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you will be resting. During the dinner, we all will be gathering, summarizing your journey, and sharing experiences.

Day 19Kathmandu Rest

After such taxing weeks, we finally get a day off. This day you can rest and chill. Or otherwise go on around city tour, exploring more of this beautiful city.

Day 20Departure Day

Sadly, everything comes to an end, and so does this journey. Leaving behind this beautiful country of Nepal. You will be transferred to the airport as per your scheduled flight. You came here empty-handed, but now are returning with tons of warm memories, that both you and our team shall cherish throughout this life.

G’day mates! I just finished the Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak Climbing with Happyland. And it was an absolute amazing and challenging. The rugged beauty of the mountains had us amazed and stunned. The guides were somewhat of a legend for us, as they always were looking out for us.
