Trek to Australian Camp is a one of the short hike in Pokhara. Lets you enjoy the view of Annapurna ranges along with the worthy journey, it also gifts you a surreal experience of Annapurna making your memories last forever.

 Also, it is the perfect hike for the people who have limited time or for those who wants short and easy hike. It is easy and beginner- friendly trek. Although being short and easy, it provides stunning view of Annapurna ranges.  You can enjoy the views of Majestic peaks like Annapurna south, Hiunchuli, Annapurna III, Machhapuchre(Fishtail), Annapurna II, Annapurna IV and the view of the Pokhara city as well.

Hiking through the forests and villages, you will mesmerized by the beautiful nature, mountains, streams, rivers and the villages. You can enjoy a peaceful nature. The sunrise and sunset view over the Himalayas will surely give you a heavenly experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu to Pokhara

You can either take bus or a flight to the Pokhara city. The bus ride takes approx. 8-9 hours while the flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes approx. 25 minutes. If you go by bus, you can use Tourist bus. The bus stops at a different place for the coffee and lunch. You can also access Wi-Fi for free while on the bus. but WIFI conection sometimes ok, and sometimes too poor along the bus journey, you can roam around the city and enjoy the beautiful view of Phewa lake and other places. You will also meet your guide and porter for the information of your trek.

Day 2: Pokhara to Australian Camp

Having a breakfast in the morning, we will be taking approx. 1-hour drive to Kande in a private transport. From kande, you will be hiking for 1- 2 hour. After the short hike, you will reach Australian camp from where you can enjoy the mind blowing view of the Annapurna ranges which includes peaks like Annapurna south, hiunchuli, Annapurna III, Maachhapuchre (Fishtail), Annapurna II, Annapurna IV. You can also see beautiful view of Pokhara. Finally, after enjoying the day, you can have your dinner and end your day with the sound sleep.

Day 3: Australian camp to Pritam Deurali

In the morning, waking up with the stunning view of peaks beside you can be one of the great experience. Enjoying the view, you will be having your breakfast. After having breakfast, we will be hiking to Forest Camp. Hiking through the trails with the insect’s birds chirping and the sound of streams will really make you feel very peaceful. You will be also having lunch on the way. You can have tea or coffee and finally, dinner and a rest.

Day 4: Pritam Deurali to Pokhara

You will be hiking for 4-5 hour till Dhampus Phedi. And from Dhampus Phedi, we will be taking approx. 40 min drive to Pokhara on a private transport. The terrain is going to be a forest till kalimati which takes approx. 2 hours and from Kalimati, you will be hiking through the villages and crop fields. After hiking for some time, you will reach lumre where the vehicle to take you to Pokhara. After approx. 1 hour, you will reach Pokhara. Here, the hiking ends.

Day 5: Pokhara to Kathmandu or Stay in Pokhara

You can either stay at Pokhara or go to Kathmandu. That depends on you. And after that, you will be departed to International Airport and back to your home.

Accommodations

We can see lots of teahouses while on the trail. Teahouses are the place where visitors can eat, rest and sleep. It is a family-run business along the trail. The accommodations are just normal teahouses with some bed and usually an attached bathroom.

There is always a friendly and comfortable environment in the teahouses. You will be spending your night in the teahouses with dinner while breakfast in the morning. Also, while trekking we can find teahouses on the way where we can have something as per your liking.

Landscape

With the mixture of ascent, descent and flat surface, you can experience the beauty of the trek. You will be hiking uphill till Australian camp alongside the village whereas you will be hiking uphill, downhill and in flat ground to reach forest camp. The trail takes you through villages and forests.

You will be walking through the greenery, and forest during the trek. Various things like varieties of plants and trees, resting stops (a spot uniquely made for sitting), cattle, and many others can be seen while on the trail.

Transportation

Firstly, you can either take bus or a flight to Pokhara. The bus ride takes approx. 9-10 hours whereas the flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes approx. 25 minutes.

Private Transportation:

For a private transportation to reach Kande (Your starting point of hike), there are different options like car, taxi, hiace, jeep, landcruiser, etc.

The car or taxi will take around 15 to 20 dollars for a ride to Kande but for a jeep or landcruiser it will take around 30 to 40 dollars.

The duration of your ride from your hotel in Pokhara to Kande will take 45-50 minutes.

After the trek, you will take your ride from Dhampus phedi which will take approx. 40 minutes and cost you around 15-18 dollars.

Local Transportation:

Firstly, you need to take a taxi from your hotel in Pokhara to Baglung buspark. From lakeside to Baglung buspark, it will take 10-15 minutes.

Then, you need to get a bus ticket to kande which will cost you around 5-8 dollars. The duration of local transportation to kande also takes around 50 minutes.

After the trek, you will take a ride from Dhampus Phedi, the local transportation will cost you 5-8 dollars to get back to Pokhara Baglung Buspark. It will take around 40 minutes to reach the final stop, Pokhara.

Differences

The difference between Private transportation and Local transportation are:

The local transportations are cheaper compared to private transportations.

Need of taxi to reach Baglung buspark if used local transportation whereas the vehicle will come to your hotel if used private transportation

There will be lots of locals in the bus whereas you can have your own environment in private transportation.

Mobile/ Battery Charging

You can charge your devices on the teahouses. You can bring the power bank or extra batteries for the required devices too if you want. Charging in teahouses may cost you some extra money. If they demand, money, it will take around 3-4 dollars for charging.

Food

There are varieties of food that u can get easily in the tea houses. You are provided with the menu from where you can choose the food you like to eat. Some of the foods are momo, pizza, pancakes, fried rice, fruit pie, chowmein(noodles), porridge, oatmeal, etc. You can also try local foods like chapatti with the curry, thukpa or noodles. You are highly recommended to try dal bhat tarkari. It is a combo set of foods which comes with rice, lentils, curry, dahi (yoghurt), achar (pickels) and salad.

Shower

You can have shower in both hot and cold water but we recommend you to use hot water as cold shower may make you suffer from cold and cough. The bathroom is usually attached to your room but in some places, you might have to use the shared bathroom for the shower. You need to pay little extra amount for the hot shower whereas you don’t need to pay for the cold shower.

In conclusion, it is a short and easy trek which offers you magnificent view. It is perfect for those with a limited time or for those who wants to trek without challenges. The trek takes you to beautiful place from where you can enjoy the beauty. Altogether, it offers a beautiful mixture and you can say that you can experience a summarized version of long treks in Annapurna.
